As an independent or freelance filmmaker, striking the right balance between your true passion and facing the reality of how to get there is difficult. There are bills to pay, a mouth (or multiple) to feed and your sanity starts to slip away – being replaced with self-doubt and pessimism.

I often find myself (daily) doubting myself, but then at the end of the day I have to be my biggest fan and continue to cheer for the home team. Easier said than done…

At the end of the day, it’s up to each and everyone of us to live our dream and to never give up on it.

Vlogging has become an easily accessible way to document your life. It’s basically The Real World on MTV, minus having to watch it at a set time. Not only is vlogging easy to start, you don’t need fancy equipment at all. If you have a cell phone that’s ALL you truly need.

I believe with that, vlogging has become mundane with the same level and type of content. Not to blame anyone really, how interesting can you make a vlog?

Perhaps I myself will find out with my flimic vlog.

Hope you enjoy this month’s episode!

Episode 2 of the Flimic Vlogging series! I hope some of you enjoy these uhh “interesting” vlogs? Any who! Talking about my experience filming my first real documentary on teenage sex trafficking in the city of Compton, CA. It’s an epidemic and these girls really need support in any way we can offer.

For more info on the organization I worked with, RDS (Restoration Diversion Services), please follow the link below:

Hope you enjoy the flimic style vlogging, there are plenty of people who do the same but I humbly appreciate any one who watches the full length.

Thanks again friends!

What’s up friends! Got a new vlog up capturing a few snippets from my recent trip to Toronto, Canada! Had an amazing trip and definitely can’t wait to see more of Canada! Yet, as we all know vlogs these days are repetitive and pretty much all look the same. This vlog is the first of many more i’ll be doing when I travel that captures a “VLOG” with a more filmic and cinematic style.

Enjoy!

Had the opportunity to do something REALLY cool! Meet with a few of the best tech YouTubers out there Jonathan Morrison, Austin Evans and the rest of the crew from Sun Squared Media!

It was a digital creators workshop with only about a dozen or more of local YouTubers there. Matt Pearce and the rest of the gang shared with us their best tips, both for growing your channel but how to make the best possible video for YouTube.

We played with cameras (inluding The RED). worked with lighting, props, audio and got some amazing tips with Final Cut Pro X!

Enjoy the vlog friends!

Entry #2 of my life project journal

These are daily journals that I will upload, uncut, to document my journey of leaving a “well paying and safe job” working in information technology to pursue my dream.

No promos, no sponsors, just a regular guy working everyday to make his dream into a reality.

It’s been over a week since I last shot a vlog, it feels good. The level of unique creativity needed to create a vlog that is your own is harder than you can imagine.

I believe that ties well into the theme of this vlog. In life we all come across unexpected fog. That could be doubt, confusion, pressure or not living to your or someone else’s standards.

If you take a moment to reflect on what’s going on, you’ll find that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to look for it.

I was offered an opportunity to teach a yoga class in collaboration with Wholefoods, however things don’t turn out the way people expect. I never have expectations for things, that i’ve learned instead is to be grateful for the opportunity and do my best every single time.

What thoughts and goals do you always have expectations of? Can you let some of them go in order to see them for what they are?

I was a sports park going for a walk and noticed how naturally happy the children were. Playing soccer, throwing baseballs, living life without judgement. I think we can all learn from that. As we grow older we forget what it’s like to enjoy life.

We spend more time trying to make a living, not making a life for ourselves or our loved ones.
