COLOR CORRECT MADE EASY WITHOUT LUT – BMPCC 4K

In this video tutorial i’ll show you how to color correct your BMPCC 4K footage EASY without a LUT. I wanted to make this video as my experience with a lot of LUTs out there always leave more to be desired. The LUT can start to overexpose images, crush blacks, over saturate or not saturate an image enough.

With lot’s of time and experience with the BMPCC 4K i’ve found a very simple method to easily color correct your footage and avoid the limitations of using LUTs.

TIPS FOR FILMING IN LOW LIGHT AND NO LIGHT

What’s new YouTube fam! In today’s video we’re going over tips for filming in low light as well as tips for filming in no light situations. Whether you’re a wedding filmmaker, event filmmaker, documentary filmmaker and even if you rarely film in low light there’s always a great opportunity to learn some tips and tricks to help you when you are stuck with little to no light.

Majority of the example footage in this video is from the GH5, Sony A7RII and BMPCC 4K to give some variety.

DEPTH OF FIELD MICRO FOUR THIRDS – BMPCC 4K

In today’s video we’re talking about depth of field on micro four thirds sensors. People have said you can’t get shallow depth of field on micro four thirds sensors, that full frame and large format give you more – in many cases that is true. Yet, with the advancements made on speedboosters and very fast native micro four thirds lenses we can get very good depth of field using cameras like the bmpcc 4k and gh5.

I’ve provided a few test shots for you guys using the SLR Magic 25mm APO Microprime T2.1, a great option for anyone getting into the world of cinematography without having to fork over $10,000 for a singe lens. Also in the test footage is the Sigma 18-35 F1.8 with a Viltrox 0.71x speedbooster, at F1.8 and F1.4 to get some variation. We also compare the SLR Magic 25mm Microprime T1.5 for MFT and the Sigma 18-35 without a speedbooster to show the variance in depth of field.

HOW TO STABILIZE HANDHELD VIDEO – EASYRIG MINIMAX

In this video i’m reviewing my favorite piece of filmmaking gear to help stabilize handheld footage, the easyrig! I own the Easyrig Minimax and it’s helped me stabilize handheld footage for documentaries, commercial filmmaking and branded content.

There’s a place and time for chaotic filmmaking but when you want the subtle movements of body language and emotionality from a scene and want the handheld look, I can’t think of a better way to get rid of micro jitters and shaky video than by using the Easyrig.

I show a few example footage of using the easyrig and how it helps to stabilize handheld footage as well as a brief overview of the easyrig minimax itself and how I set it up fo handheld filmmaking.

FILMIC VLOG EP.15 – PERSPECTIVE

When you’re asked to be in isolation, to be in quarantine to help the greater good, what else are you left with than your perspective of the events that have transpired? You can look at through the lens of anger and frustration, of finger pointing and blaming or you could look what’s happened through the lens of growth, compassion and connection.

With what is happening throughout the world and humanity as a whole I figured it would be a good opportunity to share my perspective of the #quarantine through the lens of a filmmaker and cinematographer. One much like many of you who has been grounded with no work for weeks to come. That being said, last year I was in Rwanda for a mini documentary and my perspective arriving in the country was so different by the time I left.

Rwanda is a beautiful country and its people are so full of hope, compassion and love that you can’t help but deeply feel the same. I hope this VLOG supports you all during these times to change your perspective to one that resonates with growth, self evolution and a shared humanity through love and kindness.
