I’m sure you’ve been told to FIND A NICHE ASAP! Don’t waste your time working odd jobs and being a JACK OF ALL TRADES. Well the honest truth is as a working freelance cinematographer and filmmaker, in the beginning (first 1-2 years) my advice is don’t niche UNLESS you know exactly what you want to do. If you’re unsure or like the variety that being a freelance filmmaker and freelance cinematographer offers you, then definitely try a variety of projects (corporate, documentary, music video, narrative etc) to identify what you’re passionate about!
